#01 π§¬ππ§ | this is an RNA world.
Scientists can now design, build, and evolutionarily optimize all kinds of catalytic RNA enzymes, molecular computers, and biological circuits from the ground up - much like those postulated to have kicked off biology over 4 billion years ago.
One transformative opportunity is the directed evolution of RNA enzymes that catalyze reactions to capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and convert it into hydrocarbon products like methane or liquid fuels. Such "bio-recycled" hydrocarbons could provide renewable energy sources while actively removing greenhouse gases.
